I accepted your patch because I thought it just made the gear part of the ClickToFlash more visible on dark backgrounds. I didn't understand it made the whole thing more opaque. I preferred the previous look, so I reverted the patch. In my opinion, increasing the opacity made the flash boxes stand out too much on most light backgrounds, snagging my visual attention. Reminded me of the overly-gray look of Win95. I agree the ClickToFlash "Flash" icon is faint on your examples. If we could make the border of the view somewhat prominent, then the view itself could probably be left mostly transparent. One of the colors would be chosen to be noticeable with a dark background.
